BREEAM is an internationally recognised environmental standard for sustainable design and construction of all buildings excluding housing and the Code for Sustainable Homes applies the same principles to all new housing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Both offer a mark of quality for both the building and the builder and improve the quality of life for the eventual buyers.
Both are increasingly required by planning authorities and other public bodies throughout the UK, for example since 2010 it is Welsh Government policy to require all new houses to gain at least three stars in a Code for Sustainable Homes.
Assessments are carried out by an assessor licenced by the Buildings Research Establishment (BRE) using information from specialists. The assessment will be tailored to the building type but will be based on the awarding of credits for a range of environmental issues including ecology.
Levan Ecology are able to carry out all the ecological reporting and advice needed to support and application for credits under BREEAM or the code and will endeavour to maximise your credits without compromising the available budget or other aspects of the project.
