Yesterday I carried out three site visits for the national otter survey of Wales. This survey is repeated every decade and tells us which rivers otters are using across Wales. My three sites were all on tributaries of the Rhondda and ranged from urban to rural. Unfortunately one site was inaccessible but at both of the others otter droppings, known as spraints were found.
It is excellent to see that otters are thriving on our rivers and I’d like to give special thanks to the volunteers who helped me with this work.
